Dare to wear…Don’t you dare wear jeans if you happen to be studying at any of the Kanpur women’s college! It’s the 21st century and still girls don’t have their own choice of dressing ******.
Four women’s colleges have banned jeans, oh god and guess the reason - “body-hugging” jeans attract boys who throng the college gates and harass the girls. So, why not do something about the boys instead of forcing a dress code on girls.
“Eve-teasing not related to dressing at all”. Men who do it are “perverts with a sick mentality. How does a dress code help in this? Then the next thing we will get to hear is that girls would be asked to cover their heads and not show their pretty faces as it would also attract eve-teasers.

Women are their own enemy. Instead of teaching the self defence techniques to the girls in the college and teaching them on how to stay high on confidence and be bold against misconduct, she's teaching them to step back and hide.
I don't see a bright future for such students...you think they can come out to metros and compete after college?? I don't think so.

In our college, no roadside romeo was allowed to enter the college gate and even if somebody was seen around the college without any purpose, police was called immediately by our principal.
We have seen guys punished on the road outside our college and some were take to the police station and sent back after a good bashing.
In this case principal is to be blamed, when she with the police, can’t take control of the situation, she’s imposing restrictions on the students.

The reason the men did not hassle women wearing saris when your mother was young was because none of them saw women as any kind of a threat. Now they hassle all women, no matter what they are wearing!

It is a well known fact that women in America dress less conservatively than some other countries. So if the line of reasoning is ... the more clothes women wear the safer they would be, then violence against women should have skyrocketed in the last 30 or 40 years... right?
Not on your life! The women of America are over twice as safe as they were 35 years ago.

Actually, almost all woman who have been victims are victimized by a family member or acquaintance, not a stranger on the street.
Dress codes will make it worse because the women will feel like they did something wrong and will cower when confronted. A strong sense of self and attitude is what keeps women safe.

I would like to ask the principal of the college who said that "the girls wearing jeans would be expelled from the college".... haven't you ever faced a situation of eve teasing, and if yes, it proves you used to wear the provocative dresses....right, and the guys were never at fault.
